3M Bonding Film 588 is a high strength, flexible, nitrile phenolic based thermoplastic bonding film. It can be heat or
solvent activated for bonding. 3M Bonding Film 588 can also be lightly crosslinked using a post heat exposure. This crosslinking will provide additional heat and solvent resistance as well as somewhat higher shear strengths.
3M Bonding Film 588 must be stored at or below 40°F (4°C) for maximum storage life
Flexible and fully solid, the heat activated dry film adhesive is composed of a higher percentage of thermosetting resin than product number 583. Therefore, it allows for superior internal strength and structural fixation.
It consists of a higher percentage of thermosetting resin than 3M (TM) Scotch-Weld (TM) 583 fixing film. Therefore, it allows to obtain a superior internal resistance and a structural type fixing. The thicker gauge of the product makes it particularly suitable for making joints.
